A new vegan leather has risen. Bolt Thread's and Ecovative Design have partnered to come out with a new kind of "leather", one that is sustainable and lacks any connection to the livestock industry.
Mylo is an animal free leather alternative made from Mycelium, the root structures of mushrooms located underground. The Mycelium cells grow in beds of corn stalks with additional nutrients and an intertwined 3D network is developed. This networks is then compressed to create a 2D material that feels and acts like leather.
