Designers Marjan van Aubel & James Shaw blend furniture design with a new material called, “Plastiglomerates.” The smart ‘bio-composites’ keep the earth and all living beings in mind when it is being used in products. These two designers, incorporated bio resin with timber waste to create this foam-like substance. There is about 50% to 80% of timber wastage during normal manufacture, and to reduce this waste they use it for their furniture. The porridge-like mixture of resin and shavings is slapped on to the undersides of the furniture shells by hand, forming a strong and lightweight material.
