Reclaimed yarn finds new life in ocean-inspired tapestries

Posted by Analog Watch Co. on

Vanessa Barragão, a Portugal based studio, creates beautiful and elaborate tapestries out of wasted yarn from the textile industry, which is among the most polluting industries in the world. This yarn would have made it's way to the dumb, yet here it is more charming than ever.

Dyeing fabric with harmful chemicals, energy consumption by production machinery, and fabric waste disposed. This has an exceptionally high effect on the ocean, which absorbs 90% of the oceans heat, effecting coral reefs and algae.

These pieces pay homage to the beautiful oceans.
