Thomas Schütte, a German artist, designed Blockhaus on Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein, Germany. The cabin is built using untreated Nordic Pine Wood, which will weather and turn grey naturally over time.
The Titanium Zinc shingled roof brings contrast to the log structure.
All that's housed under the quirky roof is a fired clay water fountain to refresh and cool off, along with two benches mounted within the walls of the structure.
The footprint of the building is an irregular hexagonal shape, and the walls extend outward at irregular angles as well. Round cuts were taken out of each piece of wood, assuring they would rest together nicely, while still having some space in between.
